Hewlett-Packard
TheAlloy worked with HP on the design of three palmtop computing products for the business market. The first, the Jornada 540, was designed to respond to HP’s aggressive bid to launch a new product ready for the release of the new Microsoft Pocket PC operating system. It established a global product identity that was evolved for the Jornada 560, and further again for the Jornada 928, the first hybrid PDA and GPRS mobile phone.
HP Jornada 540
Part of Hewlett Packard's 'back to the garage' campaign, the Jornada 540 was the first PDA to launch with Microsoft’s Pocket PC software onto the global market. Working within extremely tight constraints we created a slim and pocketable form that removed the need for secondary covers. Pioneering 3D management techniques enabled the Jornada 540 to hit the market fast and right first time. It outsold expectations by over 500%.

HP Jornada 928
A hybrid PDA and GPRS mobile phone, the Jornada 928 represented a definitive convergence problem. Concepts inspired by user studies, coupled with TheAlloy's extensive experience of mobile phone design, created a broad range of device configurations which were consumer tested in eight cities around the world. The Jornada 928 was successfully launched in 2002.
