Avid partnered with Alloy to design Avid Link, a global platform that connects creatives across music, film, and media. The goal was to create a content-first experience that helps users showcase work, discover collaborators, and build professional opportunities within a supportive creative community—prioritising user benefit over product upsell.
Outcome: A launch-ready Avid Link app experience delivered through rapid UX prototyping and user validation, enabling creators to connect, collaborate, and share work at scale for a major product launch at NAMM 2019.

Avid Link is designed to intuitively build up your profile to showcase associated projects and establish and manage connections with fellow creatives. Although not for Avid's software, Adobe’s Creative Cloud is similar; a product manager to Adobe’s own products. However, where Creative Cloud is built around the up-sell of Adobe products with minimal user interaction, Avid Link concentrates on user benefit with career-building networking and collaboration, information, support and community. Avid had a broad understanding of their user demographic and the product’s requirements. Alloy was able to translate Avid’s brief into an engaging, functional product, built on in-depth user testing and iterative refinement.
The product aim is to digitally connect global audio and video creatives. So by design, the intended geographical market is a global one. With the majority of initial Avid Link users being Avid creative tool customers, they expect a slick, feature-rich platform to connect and collaborate with other like-minded creatives. Avid Link was developed under aggressive timescales. To ensure that it was released at the NAMM 2019 tradeshow, full design and development had to be completed from scratch within a 6 month window. Time-efficient iteration of wireframes, design and rigorous user testing to nail down functionality allowed time to ensure the GUI was polished.
