Top Connect partnered with Alloy to design a compact, reliable mobile hotspot device aimed at users who depend on consistent connectivity while travelling or working remotely. The challenge was to balance performance, battery efficiency, and durability within a highly portable form factor, while keeping the product intuitive and easy to use.
Outcome: A production-ready mobile hotspot design combining robust wireless performance with a compact, travel-friendly enclosure, optimised for manufacturability and everyday reliability in on-the-go connectivity scenarios.
Data usage reduction
Reduced mobile data usage by up to 85% through efficient hotspot performance and optimised connectivity behaviour.Operational cost savings
Achieved 40% operational cost savings through simplified hardware architecture and efficient manufacturing design.Customer retention increase
Increased customer retention by 20% through improved reliability, portability, and ease of use in everyday mobile connectivity.Top Connect, a leading telecommunication provider for the Baltic region, approached Alloy to support the industrial design and product development of a new device to be used in conjunction with their international brand Travel Sim.
To complement Travel Sim’s global roaming services, Top Connect wished to create a new mobile hotspot WiFi device featuring new and unique ‘call back’ technology that would allow its customers to save up to 85% of the usual data charge cost.
Working closely with a Berlin based electronic development team, Alloy’s role was to define the industrial design to differentiate the device from similar products in the market place. We won the work with Top connect off the back of similar projects completed for BT.
